Pan-African tech hub network AfriLabs has announced Facebook as the partner and sponsor of its Annual Gathering, with Facebook to host three free sessions for event participants.
AfriLabs each year holds an Annual Gathering bringing together members of its 50-strong tech hub network, inviting delegates to share insights and best practices, as well as build new relationships between hubs. Disrupt Africa reported this year’s event is set for Cairo, Egypt on October 18-20.
The organisation recently announced it has joined forces with international development organisation Hivos’ Coworking Summit, and will co-host both gatherings as a joint-event including delegates from both initiatives. The joint-event will take the theme of “Future of Cities: Innovation, Spaces and Collaboration”.
Facebook has now joined the partnership, and will host three sessions during the two-day event which will focus on Facebook Developer Circles, Facebook for Developer Platform and FbStart. These sessions will be free for all participants of the gathering to attend.
“We are thrilled to support the AfriLabs Annual Gathering in Egypt this year. With its success in building a community around the rapid expansion of tech hubs across Africa, AfriLabs is strongly poised to accelerate innovation by opening the dialogue to diverse ideas and experiences,” said Emeka Afigbo, Facebook head of Middle East and Africa platform partnerships.
“We look forward to connecting with the AfriLabs community on a number of Facebook Africa focused initiatives including our Developer Circles, the FbStart program designed to help early stage mobile startups build and grow their apps, as well as Facebook’s Developer Products.”
