Global early-stage startups competition Seedstars World has announced the nine tech startups that will pitch at its event in Dakar, Senegal on September 24, with the winner set to pitch for the chance to secure up to US$1 million in equity investment at next year’s global final in Switzerland.
Seedstars World is hosting local events across Africa this year, and has already picked winners in Mozambique, Tunisia, Tanzania, South Africa, Uganda, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Ghana.
The Senegal leg of the competition will take place on September 24, where Seedstars World is closely working with Groupe Cofina.
Nine startups have been selected to pitch at the event, including data analytics startup ADN, agriculture financing platform Bayseddo, publishing company Carvi Writer, insurance distributor Dassur, and fintech startup MaTontine.
The list is completed by merchants solution PayDunya, on-demand services platform Walam, jobs marketplace Skillake, and SenCivilities, which allows the management of civil status, request of remote birth certificate, and geolocation of undeclared children.
“Groupe Cofina is proud to support innovation and entrepreneurial spirit in Senegal by partnering with Seedstars World for the competition which aims at sourcing the most promising and innovative startups in Senegal,” said Laissa Mouen from Groupe Cofina.
