Cape Town co-working space CoworKite is offering nomadic entrepreneurs and startups access to community-driven “workations” of between one week and three months, and will soon be expanding to Mauritius.
Disrupt Africa reported last year on the launch of CoworKite in Blouberg near Cape Town, offering workspace, internet and access to investors and mentors to startups.
The CoworKite community-driven workation is tailored towards remote workers and business kitesurfers who want to escape American or European winter and stay in Cape Town.
The shared workspace is located a stone’s throw from Cape Town’s famous watersports beach, Blouberg, which offers fantastic conditions for kitesurfing, windsurfing and surfing. It is possible to book for as little as one week to see if there is a fit, and then extend workation afterwards for up to three months.
Workations include weekly workshops, business and community events that will be organised by a community manager and local kitesurfing host.
“After a highly successful first year of running a co-working office by the beach in Cape Town, we have decided to start our own three months workation programme in January 2018. There are more retreats available for digital nomads every day, but we believe our community-driven event will attract the right people who share a passion for the beach lifestyle and watersports,” said Matija Rukavina, founder of CoworKite.
“It will be a fantastic experience to run our first workation. Cape Town becomes the epicentre of kitesurfing in January, and it is one of the best cities to live and work remotely.”
