Four startups have been chosen to represent the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) at the Seedstars Africa Summit in Mozambique next month after a pitch event held in Kinshasa.
Global early-stage startups contest Seedstars World has been hosting local events around Africa over recent months, and has already picked winners in Mozambique, Tunisia, Tanzania, South Africa, Uganda, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Senegal, Cameroon, Rwanda, Angola, Morocco, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Kenya.
Each local winner will take part in the three-day conference in Maputo next month, as well as the global final in Switzerland next year where they will pitch for the chance to win up to US$1 million in equity investment.
The DRC leg of the competition took place last Friday, with seven startups invited to present their ideas in front of the local jury panel. Four were chosen to take part in the Africa Summit, namely real estate platform Youdee, mobile data storage and sharing platform Ufumbuzi, ed-tech startup Eteyelo, and photo printing and delivery app Benda Photo.
