Eight Egyptian startups have been selected to take part in the MENA High Potential (HIPO) programme at this year’s RiseUp Summit in Cairo, which will offer them access to unique resources, tools and opportunities aimed at empowering their businesses and helping them expand in their markets.
The annual RiseUp Summit kicks off today in Cairo, with the event having partnered with VC firm Algebra Ventures to bring together 20 promising startups from five MENA countries.
Egypt is the best represented, with eight startups making the cut. They include personal virtual assistant Elves, social media sentiment analysis tool Crowd Analyzer, automotive software Avelabs, and semiconductor innobvator Si-Ware Systems.
The other Egyptian startups taking part are e-health startup Vezeeta, bug detection service Instabug, food discovery platform Elmenus, and event management platform Eventtus.
Startups from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan are also taking part.
“Algebra Ventures is delighted to partner with RiseUp Summit this year to introduce the new High Potential (HIPO) programme. HIPOs are remarkably unique companies that are set apart by their operational traction, ability to attract capital and exceptional innovation,” said Tarek Assaad, managing partner at Algebra Ventures.
“We believe that HIPOs will lead the way in the rapid development of the MENA entrepreneurship ecosystem. We are excited to witness, and as VC investors support, the growth and success of these companies in the years to come.”
