Ten Rwandan startups have been selected to take part in the Entrepreneurship Programme run by the Westerwelle Startup Haus in Kigali, which gives companies access to infrastructure and training.

Disrupt Africa reported in October on the launch of the Startup Haus by German organisations the Westerwelle Foundation and Evonik Foundation, providing a central meeting and support place for startups in Kigali.

The Westerwelle Foundation recently partnered the Make-IT in Africa initiative to run its first Entrepreneurship Programme, which provides assistance to startups operating in Rwanda by offering access to quality infrastructure and tailor-made workshops to help them establish and grow their businesses.

Ninety applications were received for the programme, with selected companies including hardware and robotics training initiative Creativity Lab, online groceries platform Pack & Pick, graphic design startup Gravity Studios, and FreshBox, which manufactures smart delivery boxes.

The list is completed by events firm Kigali Artisans Market, reproductive health information platform Saye Company, horticulture startup CCE Business Group, digital marketing platform YoBrand, agri-training firm Impact Route, and irrigation equipment manufacturer Volta Irrigation.

It specifically targeted founders who have developed and tested an MVP and are now looking to take the next steps to build a sustainable business. The selected startups will receive six-months membership subscription at the space plus access to workshops, networking events and mentoring sessions.
