Nine startups from across the continent have been selected to take part in Pitch Live at Africa Tech Summit in Nairobi this week, giving them the chance to promote their business on stage.

A leading African tech event providing insight and networking within the African tech ecosystem. Africa Tech Summit brings together tech leaders, MNOs, corporates, startups, investors, entrepreneurs, governments, trade bodies and media.

The event, which has previously taken place in Kigali, Rwanda, connects over 500 tech leaders over two days from tomorrow (February 23), with three summits, workshops, an expo, a deal room, a venture showcase and networking opportunities.

Pitch Live, supported by Paystack and Microsoft, attracted over 300 submissions, and strives to showcase leading startup ventures from across the continent, while connecting them with leading investors, corporates and business opportunities. The selected startups are looking to raise either pre-seed, seed, or Series A funding.

They include four from Nigeria, namely Arata, a next-gen online blockchain gaming, marketplace, animations incubator and video streaming company; Bitmama, a highly-secured and fast-growing crypto platform; Flex Finance, which is digitising requisition and spend management saving hours with automatic disbursements; and LazerPay, a blockchain-powered payment infrastructure.

Two are from Kenya, in the form of recruitment platform KaziNow and e-health startup Zuri, and another two from Egypt, namely secure communication startup Pravica and agri-tech startup Visual and AI Solutions. The list is completed by Ethiopian last mile delivery startup Eshi Express.

“We are delighted with the response for the fourth edition of Pitch Live and are really looking forward to showcasing these exciting ventures live and in person at Africa Tech Summit. Our aim is to drive connections for these ventures with new investors, customers and corporates and look forward to seeing how they progress,” said Andrew Fassnidge, founder of Africa Tech Summit.

Nubi Kay, startup programmes lead at Paystack, said he was excited to partner with Africa Tech Summit to support ambitious founders building the next wave of transformative companies across the continent.

“As part of our goal to support startups, all participating founders will receive an invitation to the Paystack Startups Programme, and an intensive workshop at the conference to explore key levers for growth and international expansion,” he said.
