Applications open for 2nd Stitch early-stage startup showcase in Cape Town

South African fintech company Stitch has opened applications for its second startup showcase, which invites early-stage ventures from across the continent to share their solutions with investors and other stakeholders.

The Stitch API, live in South Africa and Nigeria, allows developers to connect to their users’ financial accounts within minutes, so they can verify identity, view transaction and balance data, and enable instant, fraud-free bank payment.

This infrastructure allows companies to more easily innovate, launch and scale financial products and services – including personal finance, lending, insurance, payments, e-commerce, and wealth management solutions – and more. Stitch also enables fintechs to work with traditional financial institutions in a safer and more compliant way.

The startup held its first startup showcase last year, and has now opened applications for a second edition. Selected businesses will have an opportunity to share their solutions with global and local investors and tech founders during the annual Stitch x Raba Tech Summit in Cape Town on February 24.

Participants will receive a fully-paid trip to Cape Town to present at the event, pitch support from members of the Stitch team, office hours with members of the Stitch team, and six months of free access to the Stitch solution in relevant markets.

“We’re excited to bring back the startup showcase as part of our annual tech summit in Cape Town,” said Stitch SEO Kiaan Pillay. “Our goal is to provide a platform for more early-stage innovators to showcase their solutions to our network of local and global investors, and tech founders. Last year, attending founders made a ton of valuable connections and saw direct funding outcomes from the event. We look forward to more similar results at this year’s event. Any startups, Series A or earlier operating on the continent are welcome to apply.”

Applications are open here until January 31, with winners selected by February 3.
