Applications have opened for the fourth edition of the Africa Startup Initiative Programme accelerator run by Startupbootcamp AfriTech.
Startupbootcamp AfriTech was launched in 2017 as the first multi corporate-backed pan-African startup accelerator. Disrupt Africa reported in March 2021 it had partnered telecoms firm Telecel Group to launch the Africa Startup Initiative Programme, which aims to support the next generation of early-stage African tech startups disrupting a wide range of sectors.
ASIP backs young startups with innovative ideas that are creating a difference in their communities. Selected companies receive US$18,000 in equity funding in addition to US$750,000 worth of credits, services, and in-kind value. The ASIP programme is supported by partners such as DER/FJ; the Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank (FMO), through MASSIF, the financial inclusion fund FMO manages on behalf of the Dutch government; AWS, Google for Startups, and Firstbase.
“Earlier this year, we witnessed history in the making as startups from our ASIP Accelerator got on stage to demo their innovations and traction to the world,” said programme director Henry Ojuor. “With US$4.5 million worth of fundraise discussions and tens of corporate pilots across the cohort, we’re back on the road in search of the next set of innovative entrepreneurs for ASIP Accelerator cohort four.”
