Nigerian logistics startup Kwik launches e-commerce fulfillment service

Nigerian logistics startup Kwik has launched on-demand e-commerce fulfillment service KwikShelf, its first fulfillment centre at Iddo House, Lagos.

Disrupt Africa reported in July 2019 on the launch of Kwik – a digital platform connecting delivery partners and corporate customers in large African cities and offering digital solutions for e-commerce payment and fulfilment – after the startup raised seed funding, and it saw speedy uptake.

The startup raised a US$2 million Series A funding round in March 2022, and then launched KwikStore, a free e-commerce storefront solution that allows any African business owner, merchant, social vendor entrepreneurs and SMEs to create their own online stores within minutes without any technical knowledge and manage them from their phone.

It has now added to its offering with the launch of KwikShelf, its first on-demand e-commerce fulfillment centre in Lagos. KwikShelf is a 1,125sqm facility located in Iddo House, Oyingbo, in the centre of Lagos, which is opening in September. From this safe, secure, and central location, Nigerian merchants will be able to book warehousing space on-demand, and entirely outsource the storage and fulfillment of their inventory in a scalable, affordable, and efficient manner.

“KwikShelf will enable Nigerian businesses and merchants to position their fast-moving inventories at the heart of Lagos and to deliver orders to their customers in record time. Whether you need one square metre or a hundred, for a month or for a year, KwikShelf will give you the required flexibility and will ensure your products reach your customers at kwik speed. And no more fixed costs,” said Kwik’s CEO Romain Poirot-Lellig.

KwikShelf aims to develop up to 20 e-commerce fulfillment centres in large Nigerian cities to address the fast-growing demand for flexible warehousing and fulfillment solutions in the country. Its fulfillment services are fully integrated with Kwik’s last-mile delivery service.
