Egypt’s Rology earns 1st FDA clearance 2-sided, on-demand teleradiology platform

Egyptian startup Rology, an AI-assisted teleradiology platform, has received 510(k) clearance (K231385) from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its teleradiology platform as a class II medical image management and processing system (radiological).

Founded by Amr Abodraiaa, Moaaz Hossam, Mahmoud Eldefrawy and Bassam Khallaf in October 2017, Rology has built a cloud-based platform that provides intelligent matchmaking between patients and remote radiologists, tackling the global shortage of the latter.

The startup’s technology can be launched with zero setup costs for hospitals as well as for radiologists, and gives radiologists the freedom to work from anywhere in the world as long as they have access to a laptop and internet connection.

Rology closed a pre-Series A round of funding in April 2022, and then expanded into Saudi Arabia, which has the largest healthcare sector in the region, with the acquisition of Arkan United, in June of this year. Its new FDA clearance establishes its teleradiology platform as the world’s premier on-demand and two-sided teleradiology solution, the startup says.

“Without a doubt, this marks a monumental moment for the industry. We’ve long recognised the need to challenge the traditional bounds, and with the platformisation of our services, we’re not just integrating technology but reshaping the very fabric of teleradiology. Our platform stands as a testament to innovation and the commitment to deliver only the best to our clients,” said Abodraiaa, CEO of Rology.
