Nigerian agri-tech startup UfarmX, which leverages blockchain technology to empower rural, unbanked and underserved smallholder farmers, has partnered Africa GreenTec to deliver customised solutions to Senegalese women farmers, promoting sustainable development across the country’s agricultural value chain.
The UfarmX platform does various different things, connecting farmers to quality inputs, much of it on credit utilising a transparent blockchain ledger; allowing them access to markets post-harvest; and giving them the data they need to scale their operations.
Disrupt Africa reported last November the startup had expanded to Senegal, and it has now announced a partnership with Africa GreenTec, a renowned sustainable energy solutions provider, aimed at supporting women farmers in Senegal grappling with the aftermath of climate change.
Through the partnership, UfarmX and Africa GreenTec will launch a pilot programme that enables women farmers to access solar-powered storage containers at subsidised rates. Unlike traditional models, which require farmers to purchase containers outright, this initiative offers a more accessible and cost-effective solution, empowering farmers while mitigating climate risks.

Africa GreenTec’s solar-powered solutions offer a sustainable alternative to traditional energy sources, enabling communities to access clean, reliable electricity while reducing carbon emissions and environmental degradation. By integrating renewable energy technologies with UfarmX’s agricultural platform, the partnership will enhance productivity, efficiency, and resilience within Senegal’s farming communities.
