Egyptian logistics startup Nowlun raises $1.7m seed funding

Egyptian logistics startup Nowlun has raised US$1.7 million in seed funding to fuel its expansion plans and accelerate platform development.

Founded in 2021 by Moataz Khamis, Mahmoud Khaled, and Ahmed Emara, Nowlun is an online freight forwarding platform allowing customers to compare between different services and rates that match their needs.

The startup’s US$1.7 million seed round was led by Nama Ventures and A15, with participation from Sanabil 500 Global and prominent angel investors. It will be used to fund Nowlun’s expansion plans and accelerate the development of its platform, which offers instant, transparent, and competitive ocean freight rates, streamlined shipment management, and real-time visibility into cargo movements.

“Throughout my decade in logistics, I’ve witnessed the daily inefficiencies shippers face,” said Moataz Khamis, CEO and co-founder of Nowlun. “Driven by a sense of responsibility, my team and I are committed to transforming the industry using cutting-edge technology. This funding will empower us to further simplify the shipping process and make shippers’ lives easier.”

Mohammed Alzubi, founder and managing partner of Nama Ventures, said Nowlun was a “very interesting” investment.

“We were impressed by their deep domain expertise, strong traction in the Saudi market, and clear vision for disrupting the logistics space. We have no doubt that Nowlun has the right team to lead this transformation,” he said.
