How Kenya’s Roadrims connects cargo owners with drivers to enhance operational efficiency

Kenyan startup Roadrims is an e-logistics platform designed to enhance operational efficiency by connecting cargo owners with a network of vetted vehicle owners and drivers, providing reliable solutions for cross-border and domestic freight, as well as middle-mile and last-mile deliveries.

Founded in mid-2023 by Jacob Ochieng (CEO) and Joshua Kilwanda (CTO), Roadrims specialises in first, middle, and last-mile delivery, connecting cargo owners to a pool of vetted vehicle owners.

“We leverage robust technology, including geofencing, and delivery verification tools, to offer seamless and reliable  logistics solutions,” Ochieng told Disrupt Africa, saying Roadrims had identified a critical gap in sustainable, high-margin logistics models.

“Many competitors focus on volume-driven models with low margins, leading to operational inefficiencies and financial strain. We noted that businesses often struggle with first- and last-mile delivery, particularly in complex urban and peri-urban environments.”

Currently bootstrapped with no external funding, Roadrims has secured some major clients in Kenya, including Carrefour, Wasoko, and Scan Global, alongside 15 other partners. Ochieng said it has 50 clients in the pipeline, with a footprint across the majority of major towns, with over 500 vehicles onboarded.

“By mid-2025, we plan to expand regionally into Uganda, Tanzania, and Ethiopia,” Ochieng said.
