South African e-commerce digital payments platform WigWag has rebranded under parent company Stitch as “Stitch Express”, a refreshed solution designed to support businesses that leverage e-commerce platforms with simplified, high-converting digital payments.
Founded in February 2021, Stitch is a payments infrastructure company that helps businesses scale faster, and operate more efficiently. The Stitch payments API and tools reduce the effort required for businesses across sectors to connect to the financial system and deliver delightful experiences for their users.
The company, which has raised a total of US$52 million in funding, launched WigWag, a new brand designed to serve SMEs and individual business owners with easy, no code payment solutions, powered by the Stitch API, in September 2023.
Since then, the WigWag client base has grown significantly, and the team has developed a suite of payment solutions that specifically meet the needs of e-commerce businesses of all sizes. Now, WigWag is coming back under the Stitch umbrella via Stitch Express to continue serving businesses that operate on e-commerce platforms.
“Stitch Express has been designed with the specific needs of e-commerce merchants in mind. It combines what we learned and developed at WigWag with the deep expertise, technical reliability and fast-paced growth of the Stitch platform to bring both worlds closer together,” said Stitch head of product and Stitch Express lead Danielle Laity. “We’re excited to enable more merchants to access Stitch payments, and to continue to develop the Stitch Express solution alongside the e-commerce businesses we serve.”
