Kenyan startup TuConnect has launched an online career platform co-created by career experts, providing professional tools and career guidance.
The TuConnect platform offers access to tools such as an advanced resume builder and cover letter builder, AI-powered live interview simulations, and personalised career guidance, providing tips from career experts to help users refine applications and prepare for interviews.
Founded by three friends – Geoffrey Amadi, Collins Oduor and Edgar Omondi – in October of last year, TuConnect identified a gap in the job application process where nearly 75 per cent of resumes are filtered out by ATS systems, 81 per cent of recruiters dismiss applications based solely on generic cover letters, and about 40 per cent of candidates struggle to make a strong impression during interviews.
“TuConnect is pioneering Africa by bridging these fragmented services with a comprehensive platform that has been co-created by career experts and is complemented by AI. Our solution not only builds ATS-friendly resumes and tailored cover letters, but also provides live interview simulations and personalised career guidance specifically designed to meet the unique challenges of the African job market,” said Amadi.
Thus far the startup has only launched a product teaser, which has prompted 500 individuals to sign up for its waitlist.
“Their enthusiasm reinforces our belief that job seekers need a smarter, more intuitive way to build resumes,” Amadi said.
Currently bootstrapped and focused on building a strong, user-driven product, TuConnect will explore funding options in the future to accelerate development and expand our reach. Initially, it is focused on Kenya, but will eventually expand into other East African markets and then the rest of the continent.
“Our business model will follow a freemium approach users will be able to create resumes for free, with premium features available through a subscription model,” Amadi said. “These premium features will include advanced customisation, AI-driven content recommendations, and access to a library of professionally written resume samples.”
