Pan-African network of innovation and technology hubs AfriLabs has secured a US$150,000 donation from the Airbnb Community Fund.
AfriLabs is a network organisation that is committed to driving innovation and entrepreneurship on the continent by bringing together technology hubs, startups, investors, and other key stakeholders in the ecosystem. It has more than 500 members.
The Airbnb Community Fund, meanwhile, was created in 2020, and aims to distribute US$100 million by the end of 2030 to strengthen communities around the world. It works closely with stakeholders, including Airbnb hosts, to identify and support causes making a difference in areas like environmental sustainability, economic empowerment, mental health, and ending abuse and exploitation.
The unrestricted US$150,000 donation from the Airbnb Community Fund provides AfriLabs with the flexibility to channel funds where they are most needed, ensuring the organisation’s continued ability to adapt to emerging challenges, foster collaboration, and scale its initiatives to support over 500 innovation hubs and thousands of entrepreneurs across 53 African countries.
“This generous donation from the Airbnb Community Fund is a testament to the power of collaboration and shared vision. With this funding, we can deepen our efforts to support innovation hubs that nurture entrepreneurs, accelerate solutions to pressing challenges, and drive sustainable impact across communities. Together, we are shaping an inclusive and innovative future for Africa,” said Anna Ekeledo, executive director of AfriLabs.
