Nigerian mobility startup Treepz partners leading open university

Nigerian corporate mobility startup Treepz has partnered Miva Open University, Nigeria’s premier open university, in an agreement that sees Treepz becomes Miva’s official transportation provider, delivering services across key cities, including Lagos, Abuja, Uyo, Port Harcourt, and Jos.

Founded in 2019 and known as Plentywaka until its September 2021 rebrand, Treepz operates a digital platform allowing passengers to book daily rides along fixed routes. It also serves as an aggregator for bus travel companies across dozens of cities in Nigeria, allowing transport operators to replace manual servicing and ticketing with digitalised offerings and services.

The startup has so far served over five million customers across four countries in Africa – Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and Uganda – and has been supported by investors such as Google, SOSV, Techstars, BRK Capital and Shock Ventures.

Miva Open University, meanwhile, is a premier open university in Nigeria, dedicated to providing accessible and flexible education for learners worldwide. The university is known for its commitment to innovation and its inclusive approach to higher education.

As Miva Open University expands its academic and administrative presence across Nigeria, Treepz will provide on-demand access to premium vehicles for staff transportation, guest logistics, special events, and official university functions. With a fleet that includes SUVs, Coaster buses, and luxury vehicles, Treepz ensures that all mobility needs are handled with reliability and professionalism.

Johnny Enagwolor, co-founder and president at Treepz, said the partnership came at a pivotal moment, allowing Miva, a forward-thinking institution, to prioritise its core mission of delivering quality education, while Treepz efficiently manages a wide range of its inter-city mobility needs.

“By providing a tailored transport service, Treepz aims to alleviate the logistical burdens of institutions, ensuring Miva University operates at its best,” he said.

“At Treepz, we understand the importance of reliable and efficient transport services in driving organisational success. Our goal is to provide Miva with the most comfortable, safe, and convenient transportation solutions possible. We are committed to providing high-quality, safe, and reliable transportation solutions that support Miva’s mission and contribute to its ongoing success.”
