By Tom Jackson on August 3, 2017 Events, Southern Africa

Applications have opened for the Digital Innovation programme at the annual Leaderex show in Johannesburg, South Africa, offering entrepreneurs and startups the chance to compete for a total of ZAR60,000 (US$4,500) in prize money.

The Leaderex show takes place on September 5 at the Sandton Convention Centre, and will offer five entrepreneurs and innovators the chance to pitch their big idea to a panel of highly respected and influential judges, including Jayshree Naidoo, head of Standard Bank’s incubator programme.

The best three pitches will win cash prizes of ZAR25,000 (US$1,900), ZAR20,000 (US$1,500) and ZAR15,000 (US$1,100) for first, second and third place respectively. Applications can be made here before August 12.

“What we’re looking for is the best ideas which tie in with our big themes on the day. Individuals and established companies are welcome to enter, and the judges will be looking for ideas that they think will have impact and are sustainable in the long term,” organisers htxt.africa said.

The pitching competition is open to individuals, teams and established companies. A shortlist will be announced, and shortlisted entrants will be invited to a preparation session at the end of August.
