Advertising startup Hooplacar has been named winner of the Moroccan leg of the Seedstars World competition, earning a place in the global final where it will pitch for up to US$1 million in equity investment.

Global early-stage startups competition Seedstars World has been hosting local events across Africa this year, and has already picked winners in Mozambique, Tunisia, Tanzania, South Africa, Uganda, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Senegal, Cameroon, Rwanda and Angola.

Its event in Morocco took place on Friday, October 20 at the University of Hassan II Faculty of Juridical, Economic and Social Sciences in Casablanca, with nine startups pitching their ideas in front of a local jury panel.

The winner was Hooplacar, startup that connects brands with drivers to create on-vehicle advertising campaigns which are live monitored through GPS tracking and marketing KPIs. Hooplacar will now participate at the Seedstars Summit, taking place in Switzerland in April 2018, taking part in a week-long training programme and pitching for investment.

Manageo, an online platform that facilitates the overall management of small and medium-sized businesses, came second, while Eko-Geste Dari, a service that designs innovative and convenient solutions to better manage, collect and recycle waste, was third.

The other startups pitching were BESTCARRIERE, Novway, Nour, Ivendi.ma, CreaSouk, Khdemti.ma and Ville Propre.
