Design competition announced to find latest Gamsole recruits

Nigerian mobile game developing startup Gamsole has announced a competition to find its new recruits, calling on budding designers to send in their best game character design to stand the chance to win a job at the company.

Gamsole said the company is looking for the best fresh design talent in Africa to join their team, with the competition an innovative way of finding the right candidates.

Designers from across Africa have until November 23 to submit their original graphic concept for a game, following which the judging panel will select five winners who will join the Gamsole team.

“We are looking for very passionate graphic artists or illustrators who have a good eye for details and can create visual concepts, using computer software, to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, or captivate consumers,” Abiola Olaniran, founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Gamsole told Disrupt Africa.

Designs submitted must be original, unpublished, and must include a character design (in different moods and positions) and the full graphic user interface (GUI) of the game in different levels (including game logo, menu screen, pause screen).

Since launching 19 months ago, Gamsole has seen its games – on the Windows Phone platform – downloaded over 9 million times from across the world.

According to Olaniran, the Windows Phone app market is very much underserved as compared to the iOS and Android markets, which is why the company is focusing on producing casual entertainment games for Windows Phone devices.

“Our goal is to make casual games that are fun to play. Each game offers a widely imaginative and irresistibly fun game-play experience that appeal to gamers of all age groups,” said Olaniran.

“We have been taking advantage of the growth of the windows phone platform,” he said.

Olaniran said applicants can expect to join a friendly small team, where members are afforded independence and the chance to grow their career while creating hit games.

“We are all about friendship, small teams and great games!”

Rules and application details are available at www.gamsole.com.
