AMPION Venture Bus to tour Tunisia next week

The fourth and final leg of the AMPION Venture Bus takes place in Tunisia next week, with the last trip looking to add to the 24 startups created on buses elsewhere in Africa in the last two months.

The bus will leave from Tunis on December 14, returning on December 19 after making stops in Kairouan, Tozeur, Gabes and Sfax. The trip’s special focus is on making use of ICT to improve democratic participation.

Disrupt Africa has reported on the three previous buses, with carpooling marketplace Jambo Car winning the East African leg, water contamination solution e-Maji winning in Southern Africa, and HaltEbola emerging the winner from the West African version.

“The home country of the Arab Spring 2010, Tunisia, has become famous for its lively scene of bloggers and engaged citizens. Fittingly, the AMPION Venture Bus in Tunisia will partly set a focus on ICT solutions improving democratic participation,” AMPION said.

“A special bonding experience and possible source of creativity awaits the group of Venture Bus entrepreneurs just outside of Tozeur, when the teams will set up camp in the Sahara desert for one night.”

The opening event will be held at Tunis co-working space COGITE, while the winners will be honoured at the Grand Final, scheduled to take place in the premises of renowned private school ESPRIT (École Supérieure Privée d’Ingénierie et de Technologie) on December 19.
