West African super app Gozem launching fintech product in Togo

West African super app Gozem has announced the imminent launch of its fintech product Gozem Money in Togo, in partnership with NSIA Banque.

Launched in Togo in November 2018 as a taxi-hailing service, Gozem operates in 16 cities across Togo, Benin, Gabon and Cameroon, with more than one million users registered and over 20 million trips taken since its launch.

The startup has been pivoting towards a super app model, and is now further expanding its ecosystem with an innovative mobile money solution, which will be available from the fourth quarter of 2024.

Gozem Money is launched in partnership with NSIA Banque, and will allow Gozem customers in Togo to use their Gozem wallet for various financial transactions, including paying bills, making purchases both within and outside the Gozem ecosystem, transferring money to other users, and efficiently managing their personal finances.

Gozem Money is designed not only to facilitate monetary exchanges and digital payments by offering a more accessible alternative, but also to promote the adoption and growth of digital financial services by ensuring interoperability with existing platforms.

“The launch of Gozem Money is a natural evolution of the Gozem application, which aims to be a super app that simplifies the lives of its users. Initially available in Togo, Gozem Money will enable our clients and partners to conduct financial transactions swiftly through their app, both in the Gozem ecosystem and with external entities,” said Jean-Martial Moulaud, COO and group director of Gozem.

The service will soon be expanded to other countries within the group.
