Evey Technologies, an online platform for surveying and real-time analytics, has been named the winner of the Tunisian leg of global seed-stage startup competition Seedstars World, and will now head to Switzerland to compete for up to US$1 million in equity investment at the final.

Seedstars World is visiting a host of African countries, and after naming a winner in Egypt last week, hosted its Tunisia competition with 14 startups pitching over the weekend.

Evey Technologies was selected as the best startup in Tunisia for its efficient solution and widespread applications, and will now take part in a week-long training programme in March before pitching in front of an audience of 1,000 attendees for the chance of winning investment.

Crowdfunding platform Afrikwity came in second place, winning a free month at the Cogite co-working space, while financial management tool Expensya came in third.

The 14 startups pitched in front of a jury that included Chaïbi Khélil of Ulysse Trading & Industrial, Ali Mnif of Silatech, Elyes Ben Rayana of BIAT, Majdi Ben Haj Ali of TELNET Group, and Neila Ben Zina of Business & Decision.

Ron Bruder, founder and chairman of Education For Employment (EFE), gave a keynote speech at the intermission discussing his work in the region to foster jobs, while a panel discussion was also held to discuss work trajectories abroad and the impetus for returning to work in Tunisia.
