The Southern African Impact Investing Network (SAIIN) has confirmed a number of key speakers ahead of the Southern African Impact Investing Conference, which takes place on February 16-17 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Disrupt Africa reported last month the event, which will feature international experts, hands-on breakaway sessions and networking opportunities, had already confirmed a number of speakers, including Rockefeller Foundation managing director Saadia Madsbjerg.

SAIIN has now confirmed Bobby Godsell, the current chair of Business Leadership South Africa, as the keynote speaker. Aside from heading up Business Leadership, which represents 80 of the largest businesses operating in the country, Godsell is also a member of the National Planning Commission and serves on the boards of a number of companies.

Other newly confirmed speakers include Adrian Bertrand, who is the ESG manager within the Investment and Actuarial team at the Government Employees Pension Fund, and Andrew C. Canter, director and chief investment officer of Futuregrowth Asset Management.

SAIIN says the purpose of the event is to introduce impact investing to a broader audience and further build the market, while updating attendees on international developments, models and best practice.

“SAIIN has been a pioneering initiative and has developed a strong and trusted brand. It has achieved a number of goals: giving shape to the industry, helping to push the intellectual debate forward, settling definitions, and opening up the concept of impact investing to a wider audience. It is a key lever to achieve growth of the impact economy in South Africa and there is a steady stream of interest in signing up to the event.”
