Aspiring Liberian entrepreneurs have until the end of today to apply to enter a business plan competition hosted by the newly formed Liberian IT Revolution Project.
Disrupt Africa reported earlier this month on the project, which is a joint initiative between Liberian tech incubator iLab, the Business Start-up Center (BSC) Monrovia and SPARK, with the support of Swedish International Development Aid (SIDA) and Mercy Corps.
The Liberia IT Revolution Project is a two-year initiative to boost the IT ecosystem in Liberia by nurturing and motivating startups, and aims to identify creative solutions in mobile and internet technologies, software and web development, and link them to market opportunities.
The business plan competition is the first initiative to be hosted under the auspices of the Revolution Project, with entrepreneurs able to submit their complete business plans today to be reviewed by the selection committee. The 40 best business ideas will then be chosen to attend business training.
“The full business plans resulting from this training will be submitted to the second and last round of the business plan competition. The best full business plan winners will receive a (soft) loan and coaching to start their businesses,” the Liberian IT Revolution Project said.
