Here’s how to co-work on the top of Table Mountain

Ever thought about co-working from the top of Table Mountain, building your startup with stunning views of Cape Town and its environs?

No, probably not. But, if you fancy it, it is possible, thanks to a new initiative – #TableTopTuesday.

A Wi-Fi Lounge was launched at the Upper Cable Station in April, aiming to provide visitors with the ability to share pictures and connect with friends and family. Now, local media and marketing expert Dave Duarte has started hosting #TableTopTuesday, which allows entrepreneurs to work for free from the top of Table Mountain every Tuesday morning.

“The idea with #TableTopuesday is to meet every Tuesday morning for co-working in the Wi-Fi Lounge on Table Mountain. Anyone is welcome. There’s no formality, no talks, just a bunch of people who are looking for an inspiring place to be,” said Duarte.

“My thinking is that anyone who’s up for working on Table Mountain on a Tuesday morning must be interesting.”

The  Wi-Fi Lounge has plugs and USB points for recharging devices, with seating options ranging from cork stools at high tables to chairs and sofas. It opens its doors as the first cable car arrives at the top at 8.30am, and closes with the last car’s departure. You can also buy snacks and coffee at the Wi-Fi Lounge.

And if the Cableway is closed because of the weather? Don’t worry, #TableTopTuesday has an equally attractive backup option in the form of the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens. See you there!
