Kenya’s version of popular televised pitching contest Dragon’s Den is to return to screens for a second season, with applications now open to entrepreneurs wishing to pitch at the “Lion’s Den”.

Disrupt Africa reported last year NTV partnered Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) to launch the local take on the Dragon’s Den and Shark Tank model – with Kenya’s show christened “Lion’s Den”.

Lion’s Den offers entrepreneurs the chance to pitch their businesses to a panel of venture capitalists and investors – “Lions” – for the opportunity to receive on-the-spot investment.

There are five lions for entrepreneurs to impress: Wandia Gichuru, Kris Senanu, Olive Gachara, Myke Rabar, and Darshan Chandaria.

The first season of Lion’s Den attracted 4.9 million viewers, with 42 per cent of contestants securing investment deals on the show.

Filming for the second season begins in June, and applications to compete on the show are open here until May 31.  Applications are open to Kenyan citizens aged over 18.
