Nigeria’s PremierWrite launches “iROKOtv for writers”

Nigerian startup PremierWrite has launched a freelancing community it says is “iROKOtv for writers”, connecting readers with creative content providers looking to publicise their work.

Launched in March, PremierWrite has two main tools, allowing writers to publish articles using simple automated tools, and allowing users hire writers via the platform.

It is also currently working on an e-book marketplace where writers can upload their e-books for sale.

“We are value-driven, and our goal is to make Africa – starting with Nigeria – a better place through various ideas, stories and solutions being shared on our platform,” said co-founder Akinmosin Kolawole Samuel.

“The writing and freelance industry is a growing one in Africa at large and we want to contribute to its development. For this reason we wanted a platform where African writers can freely express and build a profile for themselves, where only the quality of content matters, and by doing so create a channel where they can also make money.”

The self-funded is involved in ongoing negotiations with potential investors, with Samuel saying uptake has been a challenge due to limited funds.

“Nevertheless, we have recorded tremendous success within our short time in the industry. We have published over 100 articles, and have been able to complete two freelance projects,” he said. “We believe we can do much more with the right support.”
