Startups with solutions that can increase access to internet connectivity have been invited to take part in the Africa50 Innovation Challenge, which offers access to funding and pilots.
The Africa50 platform calls on developers, ICT experts, engineers and innovators to help it find sustainable solutions to African infrastructure development challenges.
Its first Africa50 Innovation Challenge is focused on last mile internet connectivity, and looking for startups that “significantly increase access to affordable and reliable high-speed internet in under-served areas in Africa”.
Applications are open until December 31, with finalists to pitch at the Transform Africa Summit in Kigali, Rwanda in May. The winners will become partners in a pilot project, which will also take place in Rwanda, and be considered for potential funding.
