Egyptian dental marketplace DentaCarts has raised US$450,000 in funding to speed its growth into new markets.
Launched in 2017 by Ahmed Yehia and Saad Saleh, DentaCarts allows dentists and clinics to purchase dental products online, and has a catalogue of over 10,000 products from around 100 vendors.
“DentaCarts is a one-stop-shop marketplace that offers the widest range of authenticated products via authorised dealers,” Yehia said. “In addition, DentaCarts is deeply integrated with dental clinic management software, giving us a higher quality marketplace through deep data insights and analytics.”
The startup already serves over 1,500 customers in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and others, has delivered more than 10,000 orders, and is now planning to expand to Kenya, Ghana, and South Africa on the back of raising a US$450,000 funding round.
This investment comes from the newly-formed AUC Angels, healthcare-focused investment firm Asia Africa Investment & Consulting (AAIC), Wadi Makkah, and 500 Startups, the latter after DentaCarts took part in the first edition of the Misk500 accelerator programme earlier this year. The startup is also a graduate of the Venture Lab at the American University in Cairo (AUC), where AUC Angels was founded.
