SA analytics startup Brandbook launches loyalty tool for retailers

South African analytics startup Brandbook has launched Ibottit, a new app it describes as a “one-of-a-kind incentive tool” to help retailers secure customer loyalty.

Founded by Bakuena Ntshasa and Rorisang Posholi in June 2016, Brandbook helps brands understand what shoppers are buying and why.

The startup, which secured investment from venture capital and private equity company IDF Capital in 2020, has now launched Ibottit, a rewards shopping app that enables users to earn points and rewards for uploading images of their receipts from in-store and online purchases.

Users can snap any purchase receipt and upload the image to the app within 48 hours of purchase, and in turn receive points per receipt. As points accumulate, users can exchange them for digital vouchers to purchase items across a multitude of retailers. The app can be downloaded for free on the Google Play Store and App Store.

“With the lockdown keeping shoppers indoors and driving them to resort to online shopping and food delivery services now more than ever before, we saw this as the appropriate time to launch our offering to the market at a time when shopping dynamics have changed. With the app, consumers can earn points from uploading both in-store and online purchases as well as completing monthly surveys,” said Posholi.

“The great feature is that these points can be redeemed instantly for a wide range of digital vouchers, including Airtime, Takealot, UberEats and many more. Users would also gain an added benefit of keeping all their receipts stored in an organized fashion, ready to be summoned at a moment’s notice for any purpose intended. Whether that be for a random warranty claim for an item purchased, tax purposes, a refund claim at work or just to simply keep track of one’s personal spending habits at an item level. I would encourage consumers to join to try it out by downloading the application and start earning points today.”
