Seven startups have graduated from the latest Founder Institute Ghana programme, which culminated with a pitch to mentors, investors, business leaders and previous graduates from around the globe at a virtual graduation ceremony.
Founded in 2009 by Adeo Ressi and Jonathan Greechan and operated out of Palo Alto, California, the Founder Institute connects startups with experts who share equity in their success, and its business-building process has so far helped alumni raise over US$950 million.
Since launching in Ghana, the programme has created various promising technology companies in the country, like Grow-For-Me, Akoo Books, and Insurerity, and its latest edition took place completely online.
The seven graduating companies were ed-tech platform Spiika, fantasy sports company Fantasy Gold, agri-tech service Smart Farmer, entrepreneur support platform Duapa Werkspace, logistics startup Ólage, toilet ownership service Wunpini Sanitech Engineers, and talent identification platform Rheyod Global.
“Without doubt, the programme is one of the best filters to determine who is serious, and possesses the grit, determination, resilience, and work ethic that all entrepreneurs must demonstrate,” said FI Ghana managing director Simon Turner.
“The programme is not for the faint-hearted, but what can be achieved in 16 weeks can ultimately save years of time, and costly mistakes sending good money down the drain, needlessly.”
