Disrupt Africa has released the second episode of its two-part podcast series discussing the value of PR to African tech startups, in good times and bad, produced in partnership with Africa-focused public relations company Talking Drum Communications.

Co-hosted by Gabriella Mulligan and Tom Jackson, Disrupt Podcast helps keep listeners in the loop on all that’s going on in the African tech startup ecosystem. Following on from the success of its first few “podumentary” series, including “The essential guide to African VC”, Disrupt Africa has now released “Talking the talk – why African tech startups need effective PR in good times and bad”.

The two-part series, released in partnership with Talking Drum Communications, discusses the value PR can add to growing African tech ventures, how such relationships can be effectively put together, and the importance of effective PR in times of crisis.

“Take it from me – too many startups don’t understand the need for, or value of, effective communications strategies when it comes to telling their story, and even fewer understand how to handle a crisis situation. This two-part series will explain the value of PR, and how to best put in place a strong PR strategy,” said Tom Jackson, co-founder of Disrupt Africa.

“I really enjoyed the conversation and it was a great pleasure working with Disrupt Africa to put this very important series together. Public relations has long been an effective tool for shaping perceptions that support business growth and it is great to see more organisations across the continent take it more seriously. As businesses navigate Africa’s dynamic business landscape, it is essential that we continue to have these conversations to reinforce the importance of effective public relations at every point of the business journey,” said Bemi Idowu, founder and managing director of Talking Drum Communications.

Episode two is available here now.
