Applications are open for the 14th edition of the Orange Social Venture Prize (OSVP) in Africa and the Middle East, aimed at supporting social innovation and encouraging entrepreneurship.

Since 2011, the OSVP in Africa and the Middle East has been rewarding innovative startup projects that use and develop new technologies to make a positive impact in the region in fields such as education, healthcare, e-commerce, agriculture, or environment.

The 14th edition of the prize, which is open for submissions from candidates from the 17 countries within the Orange footprint in the region, has two stages. A national stage will collect applications between now and May to select three winners from each of the 17 subsidiaries, who will then proceed to the international stage, where 10 finalists will be chosen for the International Grand Prize and five for the International Women’s Prize.

A final jury made up of leading figures from the worlds of tech and entrepreneurship in Africa and the Middle East will then be responsible, in October, for choosing the three winners of the International Grand Prize and the winner of the OSVP International Women’s Prize from among the 15 projects selected by Orange Group employees.

The winners will be awarded EUR25,000 (US$27,000) for the first prize winner, EUR15,000 (US$16,000) for the second prize winner, EUR10,000 (US$11,000 for the third prize winner, and EUR20,000 (US$22,000) for the winner of the International Women’s Prize.

Applications are open here until May 24.
