AfriLabs, Intel partner in bid to propel Kenyan deep-tech ecosystem

African hub network AfriLabs has partnered Intel to launch the Intel AI Programme for African deep-tech startups and ecosystem stakeholders, aimed at propelling the Kenyan deep-tech space.

Building on the success of an inaugural event in Abuja, Nigeria, the Intel AI Programme will take place in Nairobi on May 28-30, aiming to empower a diverse array of stakeholders, including deep-tech hubs, AI startups, developers, universities, and research institutions.

The three-day event will feature panel discussions on various aspects of deep-tech in Kenya and Africa, as well as an “AI Policy Roundtable” bringing together government officials, policy-making institutions, and regulatory bodies to chart sustainable growth and development courses. 

There will also be an Introduction to the Intel Liftoff for Startups Programme, Intel Developer Cloud, Intel OneAPI initiative & Introduction to AI Tools at Intel. 

“Intel is excited to partner with AfriLabs in this second part of our Intel AI Programme which aims to foster expertise, resources, and networking opportunities within the African DeepTech ecosystem. This partnership underscores our dedication to empowering Kenyan innovators with the tools and knowledge for success, illuminating a path toward transformative technology innovation in the region,” said Dr Bienvenu Agbokponto Soglo, director of government affairs for Africa at Intel and IGA CTO Liaison.

Anna Ekeledo, executive director at AfriLabs, said she was thrilled to extend AfriLabs’ collaboration with Intel to Kenya, driving forward the African deep-tech ecosystem. 

“This initiative holds the promise of unleashing untapped potential within Kenya’s deep-tech community, fueling innovation, and charting new pathways for technological advancement,” she said.
