SA’s RecoMed, Kaelo Health partner to simplify access to virtual healthcare

South African e-health startup RecoMed has partnered with Kaelo Health, a low-cost health insurance provider, to provide easy and convenient access to virtual healthcare from a central platform.

RecoMed is a tech-driven online healthcare marketplace and booking platform that seamlessly connects practitioners, patients, and other stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem. It facilitates over 250,000 unique patient visits monthly, and the platform books and confirms over 100,000 bookings every month.

Kaelo Health, meanwhile, provides innovative, essential healthcare and financial solutions enabling the physical and psychological well-being of all South Africans.

The partnership between the two significantly lowers the cost of self-care for patients, allowing healthcare practitioners to curate a series of screening questions for the patient to work through ahead of a consultation. As a result, the practitioner can guide a patient more efficiently during the online appointment.

“Our mission is to provide quality and affordable healthcare that significantly improves the lives of all South Africans,” said Dr Arianna Alletzhauser, head of clinical operations at Kaelo Health. “As a provider of low-cost health insurance products, we wanted to create a platform that would allow patients to consult with a healthcare provider online, a way of extending access to primary healthcare services. Collaborating with RecoMed has allowed us to reimagine this vision on a greater and more innovative scale.”
