How Egypt’s Click Cash is helping users access cashback at major retailers

Egyptian startup Click Cash is a free lifestyle cashback rewards app that gives real cash for everyday purchases when users shop In-store or online, by partnering with many FMCG brands and top retailers.

Launched in January 2022, and officially launched in June 2023, Click Cash provides cashback of up to 20 per cent at grocery stores on FMCG, and up to 50 per cent at top retail stores. It covers more than 18 lifestyle sectors, and more than 100 top brands with over 1,200 branches.

Co-founder and CEO Mohamed Said said the background for the company was based on high inflation, with the high prices of FMCGs forcing consumers to reduce their daily purchases.

“Consumers are lacking the cashback providers on an individual item-level in general and the consumables category especially, and lacking the rewards system on traditional trade supermarkets,” he said.

Click Cash is self-funded, but in discussion with a couple of VCs to fund its future. And those VCs have something to go on – so far the app has had 150,000 downloads, and seen around 20,00 transactions.

Currently only active in Egypt, it now plans to expand into the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Japan, and other countries in Africa.
