Fifteen startups have been selected for the second phase of the e-Track programme run by UCT GSB Solution Space and ayoba, which helps early-stage ventures move from proof of concept to investment readiness.
Run by UCT GSB Solution Space – a specialised centre of the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business – and funded by ayoba, the e-Track programme is an early-stage venture acceleration and capacity-building programme for high-impact entrepreneurs.
It has two distinct phases. Phase one is the Venture Launch programme, which focuses on validating the venture concept and is appropriate for participants that have or want to develop both for-profit and non-profit scale-ups.
All who successfully complete phase one will receive a UCT GSB certificate and be invited to pitch for phase two, where only 15 startups are selected. Phase two is aimed at accelerating the development of the validated venture and culminates in a pitch day, where ventures pitch to a room full of potential investors, venture capitalists and capacity builders that could take the startup to even greater heights.
Those startups have now been announced, with 10 of them hailing from South Africa. They are Connected, Dormify, Eazy Way Rides, ElektroPlug, Legal Tech Eco System, Natihub, Regasis, Tetafi, Voco, and Zipterview.
Also selected are two Kenyan startups, namely Ça Va Commoditech Ventures and Hoptics, as well as Nigeria’s Doorcas Africa, Ethiopia’s Guaro Farms, and Uganda’s Yee FM.
With 12 weeks in total to hone their strategies and refine their business models, these ventures are benefiting from expert masterclasses and coaching sessions, covering areas such as brand development, pitching, IP strategy, finance and accounting, and legal advisory. The programme concludes with a demo day on November 28.
