The top 10 finalists have been selected for this year’s edition of the Africa’s Business Heroes competition, and they will now compete for a share of the US$1.5 million prize at the grand finale in Kigali, Rwanda in December.
The Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) competition is a philanthropic programme supported by the Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Philanthropy to honour and elevate African entrepreneurs.
Each year since 2019, ABH awards a total grant of US$1.5 million to 10 deserving entrepreneurs, and also provides significant exposure, training, mentorship and networking opportunities.
After receiving around 20,000 applications from all 54 African countries, 50 semi-finalists were selected for this year’s edition in August, and they pitched at an event in Cairo last week for a place in the final. Ten finalists were selected by the judging panel.
They are, in alphabetical order, by country:
- Tisya Mukuna, La Kinoise – Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC);
- Hadeel Fayek, Joviality – Egypt;
- Mina Shahid, Numida – Egypt;
- Dr. Rasha Rady, Chefaa – Egypt;
- Clement Owusu-Donkor, Aquantuo – Ghana;
- Alexander Odhiambo, Solutech – Kenya;
- Dr. Salma Bougarrani, GREEN WATECH – Morocco;
- Mobolaji Ajayi, Purelife Pharmacy – Nigeria;
- Henri Ousmane Gueye, EYONE – Senegal;
- Maxima Nsimenta, LIVARA – Uganda.
The finalists will now compete for a share of the US$1.5 million prize at the grand finale, which is set to take place from December 3-5, 2024, in Kigali, Rwanda.
