i3 announces 3rd call for applications to support African startups in healthcare supply chains

Investing in Innovation Africa (i3), a pan-African initiative for startups building the future of healthcare supply chains, is calling for leading innovators to join its third cohort.

Funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and sponsored by MSD, Cencora, Endless Foundation, HELP  Logistics, Sanofi’s Global Health Unit and Chemonics, i3 is dedicated to facilitating the commercialisation of promising early- and growth-stage companies.

Selected startups receive introductions to leading potential customers in industry, donor agencies and governments, grant funding, and tailored investment readiness support from leading accelerators Villgro Africa, IMPACT Lab, Startupbootcamp Afritech, and CcHUB.

Twenty-nine companies joined its second cohort in 2023, and applications are now open for the third, which will see 15 startups selected – 10 early-stage, and five growth-stage. Early-stage startups will receive a US$50,000 grant, and growth-stage startups will receive a US$225,000 grant to unlock major partnerships that can expand patient access across the continent.

i3 aims to facilitate at least 150 relationships with key healthcare organisations, worth at least US$30 million, which will expand patient access while creating valuable local jobs.

Applications are open here until February 28.
