Moroccan B2B retail-tech startup Z has raised US$1.05 million in funding from local VCs to support its tech development, product catalogue expansion, and preparation for its next growth phase.

Founded in 2022 by Meriem Benabad, Samer Choumar and Youssef Ait-Haddouch, Z is a B2B marketplace that empowers traditional retailers and brands with direct access to consumers, reviving competitiveness in traditional trade, which accounts for 85 per cent of the FMCG market.

Since launch, the startup has helped over 15,000 active retailers, and seen more than 800,000 orders placed. It has now closed a US$1.05 million seed funding round, led by Morocco-based VCs MNF Ventures, Witamax, Cash Plus Ventures, and Kalys Ventures.

Proceeds from the US$1.05 million round will support Z’s technology development, product catalog expansion, and preparation for its next growth phase.

“This funding marks a pivotal moment for Z, as we aim to scale operations and bring cutting-edge solutions to traditional retail,” said Choumar. “Our vision is to empower small businesses and unlock growth across Morocco and Africa.”
